Become an armed guard for 770 and other shuls
Several shuls in Crown Heights, including 770, are protected by New York State licensed armed guards. We are looking for level-headed, reliable individuals who already hold a New York City pistol permit and want to become NYS licensed armed guards.
Vetting comes first
The right people, before the training
Carrying a firearm in front of a shul is a serious responsibility. Before anyone begins licensing or training, C.H.O.S.E.N. gets to know them. We are looking for people who are level-headed, of good integrity, and dependable. That way nobody invests months in training only to hear it is not the right fit.
Applicants who are accepted go on to license and train in partnership with Six-13 Guard, a frum security company. The training is real, and it makes you reliable.

- Guidance through New York State security guard and armed guard licensing
- Firearms training and qualification
- Placement at 770 and other Crown Heights shuls, coordinated with C.H.O.S.E.N., local community patrols, and the NYPD
Who we're looking for
- Holds a New York City pistol permit (a New York State requirement)
- Over 18, with no criminal record
- Level-headed, with good integrity
- Reliable and able to commit to scheduled posts
- New or experienced. Both are welcome.

From application to your first post
We get to know you
Someone from C.H.O.S.E.N. contacts you. Every applicant is vetted before anything else happens.
License and train
Accepted applicants complete NYS licensing and firearms training in partnership with Six-13 Guard.
Serve
Take up a post at 770 or another Crown Heights shul, as part of the C.H.O.S.E.N. network.
